Fishers of Men

Desert Wind FIlms is extremely excited to be developing Fishers of Men.  This character driven Christian film carries a powerful message with wholesome and realistic appeal. The Christian community alone can carry a film to success, as Kirk Cameron could attest to from his smash hit FIREPROOF, which generated over $34,000,000 in its first year of release. The Southern Christian audience is also driving the runaway success of The Blind Side, which has already generated in excess of $100,000,000 in domestic revenue and could be well on the way to $200,000,000.

Fishers of Men is a story about the unbreakable bond that identical twin brothers Pete and Andy Goodwyn share. Orphaned as young boys, Andy and Pete look after one another as they grow up in 1950’s suburban Georgia. Andy struggles to stay out of trouble and find purpose for his life, whereas, Pete seeks the guidance of God, thrives as an athlete and as a student. Pete plans to attend the seminary in the fall after graduation. Into their teenage years they are inseparable until, in a Romeo and Juliet scenario of young love that ends in tragedy, Pete's true love is killed by a rival student during a jealous rage. His life is suddenly shrouded in darkness as Pete is convicted on first-degree murder for a crime of passion and heartbreak. His conviction should have been not guilty, but due to a high profile and corrupt father of the slain teen boy, he was unjustly sent to death row to await the electric chair. While on death row, the hopelessness of his sentence challenges Pete's faith in God; meanwhile Andy follows his brothers path, joins the seminary and goes on a spiritual journey to discover his own faith. Andy’s new faith and his undying love for his brother allow him to make the ultimate sacrifice in order to save Pete.
